What a beautiful day!  But oh how the bugs are loving it because it is still soooo wet up here and the ground really soft.  The blackflies are rampant and the mosquitos have made their annual debut.  Looking for a less potent bug spray? Try a 50/50 mix of listerine and water.  If it’s not working, make it a bit more potent.  We have a big spray bottle of it here in the shop to try and make life in bug world a bit more tolerable.

We don’t have much new to report here, so we thought we’d give you an update from the other side of the world. Heather is doing really well in Australia. It is so hard to believe that she has been there for over 2 years. We had no doubt she would adapt and figure things out with ease, but she has exceeded all of our hopes!  After spending about a year and a half in Cairns, she moved to Brisbane where her and Ryan both got jobs at the Australia Zoo. Heather is working in the primarily with Native Australian Mammals (mostly Dingos) and sometimes gets to work in the Africa section. Ryan works with the reptiles, and even got to help transport a crocodile during filming of Crikey with the Irwin Family (the shows air on Thursdays at 9 on Animal Planet). We miss her but know she is having an incredible experience there and are grateful to have our nephew in the same country at least.

That’s all for now!  Enjoy the sunshine.

UPDATE: WE ARE UNABLE TO PUMP PROPANE FOR A FEW DAYS DUE TO A LEAK.

The end of May already! How did that happen?
As you all know, its been a cool and wet season so far and the blackflies are thoroughly enjoying the conditions. We’ve started to see some mosquitos out too, so if you’re planning on outdoor gardening or general cleanup, it might be worth investing in bug jackets. We’ll need some good, hot days to clear the blackflies, and its only just the beginning for mosquitos.

Ryan has been keeping more than occupied getting everyone’s docks back to their cottages, and building many new ones. We are so glad that we were able to get so many of our docks replaced by him this year. For those of you who read our post from April 5, good news!  They are almost just as stable in the water as they were on the ice!!   If you are thinking it might be time to replace yours or would at least like to get some ideas for replacing it in the near future, contact us or Ryan and we can get the ball rolling for you. They are designed to suit your individual needs, built entirely by hand, and are built to last!

Enjoy the weekend!

Well we survived the long weekend relatively unscathed.  It was great to see so many people up enjoying the beginning of another cottage and boat season.  Thanks to everyone who was so understanding of the impact that weather conditions this spring have had on our ability to get boats launched. Luke has done a great job stepping up to the plate as head mechanic here and is working hard to get boats run up and launched.  We are also excited to announce that Justin has been hired as an apprentice under Luke’s supervision and he is eager to continue increasing his knowledge of a wide variety of engines.

We are now open 7 days a week, running full steam ahead for the foreseeable future. Our sales section is getting updated regularly with used boats and motors for sale, and if you are looking for something new please get in touch with us.

There are only two weeks left until the Emergency First Aid & CPR Training course runs at the Community Center on June 8th. Contact Lori Harper to register.

Enjoy the sunshine!
