Municipality of Trent Lakes Lifts Burn Ban – All Burn Permits have been reinstated.

Trent Lakes – Effective Thursday, August 28, 2025, at 6pm, Trent Lakes will lift the Municipal burn ban that has been in place across the Municipality.

Although the ban is lifted, the Burn Hazard Index remains at HIGH. Residents are urged to use caution, follow all open-air burning and fireworks regulations.

Open-air Burning Rules Under By-law B2023-053 Include:

• Any person wishing to burn in the Municipality shall obtain an annual permit.
• Any person wishing to burn in the Municipality shall phone the Municipality Burn Hot Line and leave their name, address, phone number, and the date and time of when they intend to be burning.
• No more than one (1) controllable fire per residence on property.
• Fires must be attended at all times and fully extinguished before being left unattended.
• Fires must be 0.61 m (2 feet) wide by 0.61 m (2 feet) deep and 0.61 m (2 feet) tall.
• The fire must be placed 7.6 m (25 feet) from any lot lines, buildings, structures, trees or combustible materials.

Fireworks regulations include:

No person shall set off fireworks within the Municipality of Trent Lakes at any time except as follows:

1. New Year’s Eve between 8:00 p.m. and 1:00 a.m. the following day;
2. Canada Day between 8:00 p.m. and 11:00 p.m. on July 15 and the Weekends directly preceding and following it;
3. Civic Holiday between 8:00 p.m. and 11:00 p.m. on the statutory holiday and the Weekend directly preceding it;
4. Labour Day between 8:00 p.m. and 11:00 p.m. on the statutory holiday and the Weekend directly preceding it;

• No person shall set off any fireworks in, on or onto any building, highway, sidewalk, Municipal park or Municipal property.
• Property damage or injury as result of the discharge of Fireworks shall be the responsibility of the person and/or organization setting off the Fireworks.

Reporting Concerns

For all other non-emergency fire-related complaints, please call 705-738-3800 ext. 240 during Municipal office hours, or 1-800-374-4009 ext. 311 outside of Municipal office hours to reach TAS-PAGE communications.

If a fire or fireworks pose an immediate risk to property, call 911.

The Burn Hazard Index will continue to be monitored closely, and residents are encouraged to stay informed on current conditions.
