Here’s the latest water level update from the community

The short term relief in the drawdown of our lake water levels is over.

As a result of lack of precipitation, as well as water demands for the Trent Canal System and minimum flows at Peterborough and further south, the Trent Severn Waterway (TSW) has removed several logs from the Mississagua Dam. The latest forecast from TSW predicts our lakes will drop more than 15 inches between Aug 27 and September 10. That will result in very low levels for early September comparable to those in 2007 which were the lowest in the last 25 years.

The latest water level forecast is available on the website of the Coalition for Equitable Water Flow (CEWF) at  www.cewf.ca

Wow somehow a month has slipped by since our last update….time flies when you’re having fun.  The fireworks were awesome on the long weekend!  There were hundreds of boats out and a huge thanks goes out to Rick Asling for organizing everything again this summer.  It has been a great summer – sunny and hot for everyone to enjoy the water and their toys, but it has been nice to see some rain over the past week.  The fire ban has been lifted for our area.
Watch for end of season sales on water toys in the next couple of weeks.  And as painful as it is to start talking about (it feels like we just got everything out of storage), book early with Sally and the girls as storage spots are already filling quickly.  To make it even better, there won’t be any rate increases this year!
On a special  note, we have dvds for sale here in the store of an aerial flight around the lakes.  We have lots of copies and can make more so stop by to pick one up.
Have a great rest of the week!

Welcome to the hottest day of the year….so far….
The lack of rain has finally caught up with us.  After a few forest fires yesterday, there is a COMPLETE fire ban on.  This means that no outside burning is permitted regardless of the purpose of the fire.  The water bombers and ground crews were in working through the day and early evening yesterday to get the fires under control and are back working again today to make sure nothing is left.
On a better note, the MDCA regatta is going to be on Saturday, July 28th starting at 1pm here at the marina.  The fireworks will be around dusk on Saturday, August 4th on Beaver Lake.  The second round of swimming lessons is on and registration is still open for the next session again here at the marina.
Today’s picture is a water bomber coming in for water on Mississagua Lake last night.
Enjoy the gorgeous summer weather and stay safe.
