catch of the day

For all you fisher folks out there, check out this fellow’s catch from this morning! Weighing in at 25lbs and 35″, this lake trout shows us that there are still some good fish in our lakes!
Speaking of big fish, we sent Heather off this morning and she is now on her way to South Africa for a month of swimming with the sharks…we’re sure she’ll have some great stories to share with you all this summer!
Hope everyone is enjoying their spring.  The blackflies are on their way out but the mosquitos are nice and healthy so come on up and help us feed them.  The dragonflies will be well fed this year.
We’ve been working on updating and freshening up the website for this summer and are also getting faithful to updating our Facebook page so that we can stay in touch with you. Check it out and we look forward to seeing everyone out and about on what looks like a perfect weekend coming up!

Perfect evening

Perfect evening

Well what a great weekend that was! The picture is from a Friday night boat delivery and captures the beginning of a beautiful, sunny weekend, a welcome break from the rain we’ve seen so far this month.  Although it was a bit chilly, there were some brave folks out there swimming, wakeboarding and tubing….brrr!
The blackflies are apparently hungry now and we have started to see the odd mosquito around so if you’re venturing up this coming weekend, we have lots of bugspray in the store for you to stock up on (local secret – listerine diluted with water works really well too)

It was great to see everyone out and about this weekend and getting back in to cottage routine!  Have a good week

The trilliums have arrived!!!…and we all know what that means…our little black friends are out in full force.  The blackflies are loving this soggy, damp weather and are swarming this year, making life out back for our cleaning crew lots of fun.   With this weather also comes an abundance of leeks so potato leek soup will be on the horizon if we ever get all the boats in the water.
Water levels are slowly rising to seasonal norms and we have heard of a few docks floating by people’s docks so if you’ve lost a dock, check our bulletin board and the shorelines and if you’ve found a dock, send us an email and we can post it on our bulletin board or bring in a picture and post it.
A short note today as we’re working hard to get boats floating and ready for the long weekend ahead.  Welcome back and enjoy the big cottage opening weekend!
