April 8 Update

It has been another interesting week. Water levels are extremely high and still apparently going to climb a bit more. The dam has had 5 logs removed yesterday and it is still spilling over the wall. The levels in the river are really something to see. We have about 5 inches of fresh snow on the ground which has turned it back in to winter up here. There is still lots of ice in the lake so boats won’t be a thing we will be seeing this weekend. Our website is finally getting back to normal. I have had a hard time even getting in to it myself because of the increased security levels at the host but alas that seems to be fixed now as well. This means I will be updating the sales, cottage rentals very soon. Thanks for the patience as I have had to show my share of it to with all the problems. I sure have learned alot more than I wanted to know about network stuff. Remember, two weeks notice required and have a great Easter Weekend! One note for the weekend, we are closed Good Friday and Easter Sunday. We will be open Saturday from 9-4. Gotta go, power is out now, one adventure to the next!

April 2 Update

April showers bring May flowers! If the weather person is right for the next couple of days we should have lots of flowers!! The forecast is looking warm for the weekend but back to April next week. It has been nice enjoying the warm temps. but alas it is April and the weather will change daily. Snow in the forecast for the early part of the week to help keep the ice in for a few more days. The water level is rising quickly and the ice is starting to change colour. I would think the ice will probably hang around for a while yet and start thinking about it’s normal migration south in roughly 14-17 days. Don’t quote me on this because the weather person changes the rules far faster than I can keep up! It should go without saying but just in case, THE ICE IS UNSAFE FOR TRAVEL!!!(unless you have an airboat!) As per the official LGM rules if you would like your boat by a certain date,(two weeks notice required and Sally’s acknowledgement to your request received!) the toy will be back in action. If you don’t receive a reply to your email request within 48 hours then we didn’t receive it so please try again! I have to apologize for the website troubles as of late. Our provider and a number of others in the last few days had some serious issues with something that might as well be martian language to me but hopefully we are up and going now. Our website was playing hide and seek for the last couple of weeks but I am told the game is over now and with just a couple of minor issues to sort out we should be playing “I spy” for a long time to come. The sales and cottage rental links are being worked on now to restore them asap. Have a great weekend, keep your puck on the “shore” and we’ll be back soon.

Mar 25 Update

Just a short update. The ice is still looking strong and like it will be here for awhile. It is starting to pull away from the shores in spots and the getting on to it is a little harder. Anywhere there is water running it is strongly advised to stay away from those sections as the ice is very thin or non-existent. There is a history of some of our webcam shots now on the cavendish community centre site. We thought it was great that someone had taken the time to archive these and put them up. cavendishcommunitycentre.wordpress.com this link will put you there. Our hosting company for our website did some major server upgrades last weekend and since then some of our links. i.e. sales and cottage rentals go in to cyberspace for now. We are working to cure this problem and hopefully they will be back soon. Have a great weekend.
