Mar 8 Update

Today is the calm before the storm again. It was a rather wet and interesting weekend. It made the sledding a little hard to do and skating required water wings to navigate all the, up to 14 inch deep, water in places. Certain sections of the lakes had at least that much water on top of the ice late Friday afternoon. It is an interesting feeling riding across the lake on a fourwheeler and plowing through water. This has since drained off and the lake is ready for all the snow they are promising tonight. It promises to be a true March week with a mixed bag of weather and the thermometer bouncing between pluses and minuses each day. The kids seemed to be getting excited about March break and all of it’s fun to be had coming soon. There has been some buckets starting to appear on the trees around here as well so we’ll see how they make out with the sap just starting to run. If you are able get out and enjoy the weather today. With the forecast ahead you might be out later but it will be with a shovel in hand! Have a great week! One last reminder, everyone must have the boat operator’s card by September. If you still don’t have yours follow the link above for an easy, on-line experience to get your card and stay legal!!

Feb 27 Update

Well it was a nice week and it is promising to go back to cool wintry condition again. Today is just wet and wetter. It is raining pretty good and promising to wash the snow off the lakes again. We’ll see what happens later in the day if it can turn to snow before it quits. If you are planning on coming to the cottage I wouldn’t count on snowmobiling as the trails are being listed as closed or limited access. Have a good weekend.

Feb 19 Update

The snow has arrived again. We haven’t received a ton of snow but at least enough to cover the ice and let the sleds start rolling again. I ran in to some groomers this afternoon so they are out trying to pack down what we have before the wind blows it away. The lake is drifted but at least there is enough snow to lubricate sliders. The lake level started coming up this week and has shoved some ice up on shore in spots. There is some limited flooding around some of the shorelines on top of the ice but tonight’s temps should take care of that. It shouldn’t be hard to shovel off a rink with the snow being so fluffy this weekend to get some games of hockey going! It was great to see so many people up enjoying the long weekend and the weather. This weekend’s weather isn’t looking too bad either for those that are feeling the urge to come up and enjoy the quieter side of the cottage(albeit a touch cooler) It seemed that there was alot of towables behind four wheelers last weekend enjoying the harder side of the lake. Enjoy the rest of the week.
