April 1 Update

First question to answer, Yes, that is ice in the picture! Mississagua is still frozen across. Our bay is open but the main lake is still frozen. The back lakes are starting to open up i.e. Little Gold, Cavendish. Gold Lake still has ice in the center section but it should go out by tomorrow. I have a feeling Mississagua isn’t going too far right away but who knows with the temps. forecast. We need a lot of rain as the woods are dry and the water level is still about 3 feet lower than normal. Even Lower Buckhorn Lake, Stoney are quite low. Remember that Sally needs two weeks notice for the boat to ensure you will see it when you would like. As usual, stern drives won’t be launched until Mother’s Day. It is still early and Mother Nature will bring us some nasty weather yet, she always does. We hope everyone has a safe and great Easter Weekend. As a reminder we are closed Good Friday, open Saturday 9-4 and closed Sunday this weekend. Have a good one!

March 25 Update

Another nice week under the spring skies. There seems to be some frost in the forecast for tonite and the next couple of days. -14C will almost make it feel like winter again. This should slow down the melting of the ice. The ducks and geese are trickling back in to the area and trying to find spots where the water is a little more liquid state to wash off all the dust from their long flights. The wild leeks are even starting to poke their leaves out throught the ground on some of the southern facing sidehills. It is nice to get out and enjoy the area before the BUGS start. We actually saw some disoriented mosquitoes the other day. They were so lost that they weren’t even thinking about dinner. The ice is still here but definitely not safe so watch the pets to ensure you don’t have to find that canoe to go rescue them. Enjoy the weekend.
